14 Islands FIlm Challenge
14 Islands FIlm Challenge

‘14 Islands, 14 Filmmakers, 14 Days’ is the theme of what will be a very exciting project, the 14 Islands Film Challenge is the search for talented UK filmmakers to travel to the 14 Islands of The Bahamas to shoot the inspiring and dramatic stories of the different islands.

The 14 lucky filmmakers will shoot their films over 14 days, with a local team on each island. Filmmakers will be encouraged to portray the islands in their own way; genre, tone and plot are all open to allow for full filmmaker creativity. When they return to the UK, the 14 films will then be shown at an exclusive red carpet screening at BAFTA in March 2010, with the eventual winner chosen by a voting panel including a yet to be disclosed A-list Director (follow on Twitter to hear the announcement). From the final 14 just 1 filmmaker will be selected by the judging panel and will walk away with the £14,000 grand prize.

It's not the first time The Islands of The Bahamas has hosted world class filmmakers - Bond, James Bond, in his various incarnations has chosen the The Bahamas for his backdrop on a number of occasions (Thunderball, The Spy Who Loved Me, Never Say Never Again & Casino Royale), the Beatles came to the Bahamas in Help!, and blockbusters such Pirates of the Caribbean and The Silence of the Lambs have made The Bahamas a popular film location for some of the most iconic films of all time.
