168 Film Project
The 168 Film Project is a competition where producers have 168 hours (1 week) to film and edit a 11-minute movie based on a theme and a Bible verse. All films are created during production week (except documentaries, see below) to premiere at the 168 Film Festival. At the end of the festival, awards are given for artistic and technical merit.
Teams can participate from anywhere in the world.
168 has made 300 short films in 6 years in over 20 countries.
The best films premiere at the world-famous Alex Theatre in Glendale, California.
The Jury always includes high-profile Hollywood professionals, such as 168 board member Ralph Winter (X-Men producer). We provide a training ground for filmmakers, reducing barriers to production and creating opportunities for pros and newcomers alike. Teams are made up of people with diverse backgrounds, who learn to forge dynamic, creative communities.
We encourage fair treatment of subjects, with emphasis on story and subtlety. But, more importantly, filmmakers are avised to honestly portray the tale that God inspires. Truth, solid stories and high production value speak loudly to this generation and the next. Our producers are now entering and winning awards with their films at other festivals, proving that you can do a great short film in a week.
Unlimited Documentaries: will use the 168-determined theme ("Family Business") like all other entries, but they are free to select their verse and subject with regards to content rules. Upon payment of registration fees, completion of the contract, and registration of verse, Producers may start production without restriction, beginning no earlier than January 1, 2009 (max. length 11 min. including everything). They will only compete within this special category. The best films will screen in whole or in part as determined by the 168 management.
