DMZ Docs will introduce the best documentaries to the international audiences through the DMZ, the symbol of ‘peace’ and ‘life’.


PROGRAMS

The 2nd DMZ International Documentary Festival consists of international competitive program and non-competitive programs.
1) International Competition: Open to all the international documentary filmmakers, the awards of the DMZ Documentary Festival are as followings. Documentaries unreleased in Korea only.

2) Special Programs: The festival programmer will select and invite outstanding films that best express the themes of Special Program Sections, which are, , and .

3) DMZ Docs Project: The festival committee will commission documentary makers from various countries to make short documentary films and they will be a long omnibus documentary film.


SELECTION FOR INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION

1) The films for International Competition will be selected by the festival programmer and the preliminary jury and be individually announced after July. 18, 2010.
2) International Competition Juries are appointed by the festival executive committee.
3) The selected films for International Competition cannot be withdrawn after July 18, 2010.
4) The submitted preview copy will not be returned.


ELIGIBILITY OF INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION

1) DMZ Docs2009 accepts documentary films produced after October 2008, with the theme of DMZ Docs and the length of more than 30 mins.

2) The screening format should be 35mm film, 16mm film, or Beta (NTSC), Digi-Beta (NTSC), 6mm digital video, HD, HDV. Unless dialogue is in English, the print or the video should have English subtitles.

3) The entry deadline is June 25, 2010. It is important to enter your documentary at the earliest possible moment.

4) The entry fee is none.

5) Enclosures (All documents must be in English & its own Language.)

•Each entry must include
- Entry form
- 2 Preview copies - DVD or VHS with English subtitles.
(The preview copy must be the same version as the print or the video to be screened at the festival)
- Synopsis
- Director’s bio-filmography
- 1 photo of director
- At least 1 still (Image files must be over 300dpi)
- Dialogue list (English) - Director's Statement
- The list of previous festival screenings and awards

6) How to Download the Entry Form
1. The entry form of DMZ Docs 2010 is available for download from the website (www.DMZ Docs.com). The completed entry form should be sent by e-mail (entry@gdca.or.kr), courier or Fax.
2. The required materials must be sent with the entry form to the address below by regular mail. The postmark deadline is June 25, 2010. Be sure to mark all materials: "FOR TEMPORARY, CULTURAL PURPOSE ONLY. NO COMMERCIAL VALUE".


SHIPMENTS FOR PRINTS AND LIABILITY

1) The prints and videocassettes for screening at the International Competition must reach the DMZ Docs office before August 28, 2010.

2) The prints and videocassettes for screening at Special Program must reach the DMZ Docs office before August 28, 2010.

3) Immediately after the shipment of print, the sender must inform to the DMZ Docs office an indication of the method and date. Also the original copy of the invoice including the name of sender, film title and format, number of reels, and the condition of color or B&W film must be sent with the print.

4) The 2nd DMZ International Documentary Festival covers the cost of shipment only if the print is sent via festival's officially designated courier service. When other courier service is preferable, the cost will be determined under negotiation with the DMZ International Documentary Festival Executive Committee.

5) All prints will be returned to the address stated in the entry form within 3 weeks after the closing day of the festival.


INSURANCE

1) The official courier service of DMZ International Documentary Festival is insured for the liability of round-way print shipments.

2) In case the print is damaged or lost while in the festival’s possession, the DMZ International Documentary Festival will be responsible for the costs involved in making a new print. If the print is subtitled, the festival will reimburse the subtitling costs as well.


USE OF PROMOTIONAL EXCERPS

1) The excerpts from the submitted films may be used for the festival publicity. The total duration of the film excerpts is at minimum 100 seconds of the film’s length for the EPK clips. In need of exceeding this length, the festival will confer with the corresponding copyright holder.

2) The submitted trailers may be used for the festival promotion.

3) All submitted documents would be used to publish the DMZ Docs 2010 catalogues.


POST-FESTIVAL SCREENING

The 2nd DMZ International Documentary Festival aims to promote the following screenings to expand the market of short films and in-dependent films for alternative distribution.
1) Non commercial screening & Touring Festival
- All films of the DMZ DOCS 2010 may be re-screened at the non-commercial screenings organized by the DMZ International Documentary Festival or other touring international film festivals.

2) TV broadcasting (nationwide TV, Cable, Satellite) & DMB (Digital Multimedia Broadcasting)
- The 2nd DMZ International Documentary Festival aims to produce special screenings on broadcasting. In this case, the films will be screened with the consent of the copyright holder.


AGREEMENTS

It is assumed that regulations are in force once film distributors, agents, or producers submit their signed entry form to the DMZ International Documentary Festival.
