2010 is just the beginning. DOCUTAH is poised to experience its first year as an international documentary film festival in September 2010 in breathtaking Southern Utah. The festival will run for 10 days, including two weekends, with an opening gala in St. George, Utah a gala in Kanab, Utah, and a closing reception and awards ceremony on the Dixie State College campus in St. George. We will also have Springdale, Utah at the mouth of Zion National Park as one of our venue cities.

The goal of DOCUTAH is to create a film festival of international scope. We will accept worldwide submissions and hope that entries will represent a diverse collection of subject matter and countries. DOCUTAH’s focus is on independent films looking for distribution. We also encourage student submissions.

In addition to screening films (both at indoor and outdoor venues) we will host seminars with guest lecturers who are industry professionals. We hope this will provide an academically based/ hands-on approach to film making. We will also feature a distributor market place—an invaluable networking hubbub.

DOCUTAHwill have five categories:
• Minis — 5 min. or less
• Shorts — 40 min. or less
• Features — Over 40 min.
• High School Student
• College/University Student

Submission deadlines will be:
• Early Deadline — April 23, 2010
• Deadline — May 18, 2010
• Final Deadline — June 1, 2010

Entry fees are as follows:
• Any student film any length — $10
• Early deadline submission —$25
• Deadline submission —$40
• Final deadline submission —$50

The judging of films will be done by a professional panel reflecting the international flavor of the festival. The following awards will be given in each of the five categories:
• Judges’ Award
• Audience Favorite
• Cinematography
• Editing
• Music
