sixteen:nine International Film Festival
ABOUT sixteen:nine International Film Festival (SNIFF)
sixteen:nine International Film Festival is an annual two-day celebration of the best student short films from across the globe. The brainchild of the students of Shri Vile parle Kelevani Mandal’s Usha Pravin Gandhi College of Management, this festival is a unique representation of talent organised entirely by the students for the students. sixteen:nine International Film Festival is dedicated to promoting student filmmakers by providing an avenue to demonstrate their creativity to an appreciative audience and an elite panel of judges.
sixteen:nine International Film Festival was first held on the 3rd and 4th of March, 2008. Inaugurated at the hands of acclaimed director Mr. Madhur Bhandarkar, this event was graced by many patrons from the Indian film industry such as Mr. Kiran Deohans, Mr. Ishaan Raina, Mr. B.P.Singh and Mr. Sudhir Mishra who conducted seminars and workshops on the various aspects of filmmaking. sixteen:nine International Film Festival 2008 came to a close in the awe-inspiring presence of Mr. Aamir Khan, Oscar-nominated producer-director and actor.
Having received appreciation and acknowledgement from the media and the Indian film fraternity in its first year, sixteen:nine International Film Festival 2009 sought greater heights and added a number of filmmaking related events to the already thriving category of short films, gaining participation from 34 countries across the world, thereby fully justifying the ‘international’ tag. Bringing glory to our list of supporters were highly illustrious names like veteran actress Ms. Shabana Azmi, Mr. Sanjay Gupta, Mrs. Perizad Zorabian, Mrs. Madhuri Dixit-Nene and Mr. Imran Khan. sixteen:nine International Film Festival 2009 added a whole new dimension to the concept of ‘student film festivals.’
Continuing to evolve, innovate and expand its horizons, sixteen:nine International Film Festival gears up to present yet another enthralling, enriching experience in the form of sixteen:nine International Film Festival 2010, set to happen on January 15th and 16th, 2010.
